Miss sonal. I have also downloaded GRASS GIS v6.5. I have downloaded data from "theme" and further section "CartoSAT 1-DEM"
I am unable to input the tif file provided by Bhuvan. It says File not supported when i tried importing it. the same is said by AutoCAD 3D civil 2010.
Could you kindly me direct me how to generate a dem from the given tif file. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Given tiff itself is a DEM, you can directly use this DEM for any other derivatives like drainage, slope etc. We have opened this DEM in QGIS and it is showing properly. (you will get the elevation value for each pixel). We will put the tutorial using GRASS soon in this section.

Thanks for the valuable information.Actually i don't have any idea about the NOEDA / CartoDEM .After reading this post i got some new ideas.Thank you.
