Is there any tool/ document on how to measure the capacity/ water spread of dam / lake.
When undergoing training i was told that its possible to do so. We are in urgent need of this tool.

I am able to download the data of the needed tile from the Cameras AWiFS, LISS-III of Satelite Resourcesat-1. In the downloaded archive i could see the images of the tiles in 4 bands as specified in the metadata. Now, is that we have to work on these images to find out the water bodies and their area or are there any existing algorithms which would take these images and figure out the water bodies and calculate their area.
I would be happy to use that tool if any. Other wise, i would be happy to develop my own algorithm under your guidance.
