very basic question - saving maps

Can one save the maps one has created to be pulled into a report later?

You can use Print option to save your Maps created using GIS Viewer.
The Maps of Thematic services can be consumed as WMS service.
If you are creating Map using Bhuvan Online shapefile creation tool, these can be exported/downloaded as shapefile.
