Regarding Projection

Post by pd_jayakumar » Fri Feb 24, 2012 12:32 pm

Hi bhuvan,

I am an research scholar in Kuvempu University, Karnataka. I had an problem after downloading IRS LISS III images form your website ?

Problem: I have downloaded using Mapsheet option - No: 43P14, and digitized some visible features(road, water body) and converted that .shp file to UTM projection. When I opened the file in Google Earth, there is a little shift in all the feature.

Is it a valid error or I have to use some other projection system.

Thanks

As you are aware that Bhuvan and Google data sets may differ due to adoption of different referencing scheme and technologies.

Google Earth uses Simple Cylindrical projection with a WGS84 datum for its imagery base. This is different from the system that Bhuvan uses. You are therefore bound to find differences in the maps you created and what you see when you import into google earth.
