CartoDEM Use for students
Re: CartoDEM Use for students
Mr. Prakash. I am a Civil Btech student. I am currently not able to convert the Geotiff files downloaded from CartoDEM to contours or a surface. Could you kindly share with me how were you able to do the task?prakashps wrote:I am MTech student, used CartoDEM for generating contours, survey and terrain observation purpose.

Please follow the steps
1. Install Quantum GIS 1.7.4
2. Go to plug-in - raster based analysis - choose slope or aspect or ruggeddness index or total curvature
3. select input layer as DEM downlaoded from Bhuvan and keep output layer name and format and run - you will get the result
4. If you want contour - go to plug in - manage plugin - search for gdaltools and enable
5. Go to raster from menu - extraction - contour - define your output file name, interval and run - you will get contours.
6. all results are attached ( it is sample only, you may need to finetune the values to get desired results).
7. If you have any queries, please feel free to discuss.
